Northwestern State head baseball coach Lane Burroughs and is coaching staff announced that right-handed pitcher Reid Peavy of Bossier Parish Community College is the latest signee added to join the Demons in 2014.

Peavy (6-0, 180) led the Cavaliers to their first regional appearance and win in school history.

"Reid is a strike thrower with three above-average pitches," said Burroughs. "He pitched in probably the toughest region in junior college baseball in the country.  He comes from a great program and will add depth with the ability to make an immediate impact."

The Texarkana, Ark. native, was a two-time all-conference and all-state pitcher at Arkansas High School.  He was a participant in the 2010 All-Star Game and was named the 2010 6A Pitcher of the Year.

"He's a quality arm, but more importantly he's a quality and very mature young man," said Burroughs.

He was a state champion his freshman season, and was coached by Mike Lloyd.  He was a two-year letterman in baseball and lettered one year in bowling.
