Northwestern State’s Hanoj Carter has been named the Southland Conference Track Athlete of the week for his outstanding performances over the weekend, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Carter recorded three top-two finishes at last Saturday’s Skechers/SFA Alumni Invitational. The freshman posted the fifth-fastest time in the nation in the 200m dash, winning the event in 20.67 seconds.

His second place 100m time of 10.39 ranks second in the conference and 23rd nationally. The Shreveport native also teamed up with Gabriel White, Justin Walker and Kendal Taylor to win the 4x100 relay in 40.61.

This is the second athlete of the week award for Carter this season.

Carter and the NSU track and field teams travel to Lake Charles on Saturday to compete at the McNeese Springtime Classic.
