NSU baseball players play summer ball

The Northwestern State baseball team has 12 current or future Demons on summer league baseball rosters in the summer of 2013.

Freshman outfielder Nick Heath has hit at a .311 clip this summer in 29 games played with North Fork Ospreys in the Hamptons League.  He has six doubles, three triples, two homers, 18 runs batted in, and 32 stolen bases.

Junior pitcher Cody Butler has a 2.92 earned run average, which leads the Karl Young league, in 12 innings pitched.  He is a member of the Gators along with NSU signee Edward Ruggers.

Signee Caleb Dugas is hitting for a .300 average with the Rochester Honkers in the Northwoods League. He has 15 hits with three runs scored and four runs batted in along with seven walks on the season.

Freshman standout Cort Brinson is also playing in the Northwoods League with the Wisconsin Woodchucks.  During one week, he was 6-of-21 for a .321 batting average.

Future Demon catcher C.J. Webster has a .258 batting average with six doubles, one triple, four homeruns, and 24 runs batted in as a part of the MINK League with Sidelia.  Garrett Kaufman is also playing in the MINK league in Joplin.

Freshman Regan Kaufman and signee Max Brennan are with the Park City Rangers in the Walter Johnson league.  

Signees John Gault plays for Myrtle Beach in the Beach league, Kelsey Richard for Blue Claw in the Travel League, and Anthony Lucas in the Tomball American Legion.
