The 6-1, standout catcher and pitcher from Sam Houston High School is two-time first team all-district winner. He took second team all-district his senior season.
“We feel Kelsey is on of the top young catchers in the south,” said Burroughs. “He’s physical and athletic, and his best days are ahead of him.”
Richard was a four-year letterman in baseball and a three-year letterman in football. He was coached in baseball by Brad Book.
“He has great hands, a plus arm, a real knowledge of the stroke and the leadership skills to become a great one,” said Burroughs. “We are thrilled he as decided to become a Demon.”
He graduated from Sam Houston with a 3.6 grade point average, and plans to major in mechanical engineering when he begins his coursework at Northwestern State. He is the son of Christine and Brent Richard, and has one sister, Konner, and two brothers, Kollan and Kamran.
