NATCHITOCHES – Fans are invited to the official introduction of Northwestern State's new women's basketball co-head coaches Wednesday at the “Meet and Greet Luncheon with Brooke and Scott Stoehr” with a buffet-style meal served at 11:45 in Prather Coliseum.

 The all-inclusive price is $10. Reservations are requested by Tuesday at noon by calling 318-357-5251 or by e-mail to cartern@nsula.edu to assist with catering preparations.

 The couple was hired April 4 to take over the Lady Demons' tradition-rich basketball program and will spend their first week in Natchitoches beginning Monday.

 Brooke Lassiter Stoehr left the Texas Tech coaching staff to accept the NSU post. She has previously coached at Southern Mississippi, Arkansas-Little Rock, Louisiana Tech and Florida State following an outstanding playing career as a point guard under legendary coach Leon Barmore at Louisiana Tech from 1998-2002.

Her husband has coached at North Texas, Florida State, UALR and Louisiana Tech.

She was a highly-recruited player at Hamburg (Ark.) High School whose collegiate playing career included two seasons as team captain and starting point guard, while the Lady Techsters compiled an impressive 119-16 mark in her four years on the court. She was instrumental in leading Louisiana Tech to four NCAA Tournament berths, including the Final Four in 1999 and two more Elite Eight appearances, and played on the last Tech team that Barmore coached.

 During her playing days, Louisiana Tech won four regular-season conference titles and conference tournament crowns, while only losing one conference game.

The 2001 All-Sun Belt Conference selection ended her career ranked as the NCAA Division I all-time career free throw percentage leader at 91.5 percent, hitting 268-of-292 attempts.

As a senior, Stoehr was named an NCAA post-graduate scholarship finalist, WAC All-Academic, NCAA Woman of the Year nominee, Verizon Academic All-District VI and National Strength and Conditioning Association All-American. 

In high school, she was named to the Parade All-American team and was the Arkansas and Southwest Region Gatorade Player of the Year.
