Northwestern State student wins top honors at McNeese Jazz Festival

Tajh Derosier, a student at Northwestern State University, received the Outstanding Soloist Award at the McNeese State Jazz Festival in Lake Charles.

Derosier, who is from White Plains, N.Y., has been a recipient of the David Hardin Jazz Scholarship and has been regularly featured as soloist with the University Jazz Orchestra. He is a student of Dr. Paul Forsyth. Derosier organized a fundraiser for Haiti after an earthquake hit that country. He also is involved in the annual Jazz for Tots benefit to help the Toys for Tots program.
