Northwestern State University art students claimed responsibility for yarn bomb in Natchitoches’s Tricentennial Park. Students in three fiber courses contributed to the installation. Intro to Fibers classmates crafted a proposal about the project and presented it to Mayor Lee Posey seeking permission to temporarily install the colorful work, which students hoped would spread Christmas cheer even further into west Natchitoches. Yarn bombing is a type of street art intended to personalize public spaces and draw interest to knitting and crochet. “The Mayor and the City of Natchitoches were most generous in granting permission,” said Leslie Gruesbeck, assistant professor of art.  The work will remain installed until Jan. 14, 2013. From left are Intro to Fiber students Daniel Tanielu, Ethan McManus, Anne Baham, Lauren Clemons, Casey Harris.  Not shown are Aaron Nelms, Ellie Spain, Nicholas Myers and Kaylee Medineand as well as upper level fiber students Hannah Koslosky and Rachel Pair.
