NATCHITOCHES – The Northwestern State University Business Women’s Association will sponsor a style show to benefit D.O.V.E.S (Domestic Violence Education and Support), a Natchitoches non-profit shelter program that provides safe support, education and advocacy for victims of domestic violence. The show, which will feature formals and evening gowns, will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26 in the Events Room at the St. Denis Condominium, 780 Front Street.

“Now you can buy a gorgeous evening gown at a great price and help abused women and children at the same time,” said Melody Minturn, D.O.V.E.S. executive director. Each purchase supports the domestic violence shelter; and since D.O.V.E.S. helped nearly 600 domestic violence victims last year, the support is surely needed. A recent shipment of 200 gowns just arrived so there are 300 new and gently used dresses to choose from. Plus, College Cleaners has now partnered with D.O.V.E.S. to offer discount vouchers for all Gowns for Good dry cleaning purchases. This style show provides a fun way for the community to discover how great shopping can make a great difference.”

Miss Northwestern-Lady of the Bracelet and other area young women will model the dresses, priced at $25 for one gown, $40 for two gowns or $55 for three gowns. The apparel was donated to D.O.V.E.S. and is regularly sold through D.O.V.E.S.’s Gowns for Good project, housed in Sweet Tea Salon, 400 University Parkway, and open during regular business hours Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.

Admission to the style show is free but, since space is limited, guests should RSVP by calling D.O.V.E.S. at (318) 352-9394.

In addition to the Northwestern State Business Women’s Association, sponsors include Bolton Realty, St. Denis Condominium, University Cleaners and Richard and Edwina Westrop. Information on becoming a member of the Northwestern State Business Women’s Association will be available at the event.
