Seniors Theresa Halle and Marissa Lees will lead the Northwestern State Lady Demon soccer team in its 2012 home debut against Texas Southern Friday night at 7 o'clock.

They are looking to bounce back from a tough loss last weekend at Baylor, falling 5-0.

“Baylor is on the opposite track of us; they're a veteran team, and they went to the NCAA tournament last year, so it was tough timing meeting up with them, but it was something we learned a lot from,” said first year head coach George Van Linder.

“The first half we were especially proud of, but the second half showed some of the mistakes we have.

“In preparation for Friday's game we're really focusing on team defending; we feel the successful teams are successful defensively, and that has been a big part of our focus so far.

The Lady Demon offense looks to turn the page from a smothering Baylor defense in which they were unable to score.

“One of our big goals for Friday is for our offense to come alive. They didn't get a very good chance last weekend, so we're looking forward to that happening this week,” said Van Linder.

Texas Southern also suffered a loss last weekend against McNeese State, 2-1.

Friday's match is slated to begin at 7 o'clock at the Lady Demon soccer complex.
