Symphony orchestra will combine with one at NCHS to raise money for trip to Carnegie Hall

The Natchitoches Central High School nationally award-winning Orchestra will collaborate with the Natchitoches Northwestern Symphony to present a concert Sunday, Oct. 28 at 4 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. The concert will be performed to raise awareness and funds for the Natchitoches Central High School performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

 The 48-member Natchitoches Central High School Orchestra will travel to New York City to perform at Carnegie Hall Monday, April 1, 2013.  The estimated cost of the trip for these students is $60,000.

The Oct. 28 concert at Magale Recital Hall will be a fundraiser and donations will be accepted. To support a specific student make a notation on checks and make checks payable to NCHS Orchestra- NCHS 6513 Highway 1 Bypass, Natchitoches, Louisiana 71457

Sponsorship levels include:

•Beethoven: $1,000

•Brahams: $500

•Mozart: $250

•Tchaikovsky: $100

•Conductor: $50

The invitation to the students was a result of an audition and their current national standing in the field of high school orchestral performance. The Manhattan Concert Production Company of New York sponsors the competition each year for that high school symphonic orchestra that exhibited excellent and superior ratings on the local regional, state and National Level along with above average academic performance.

The NCHS Symphonic Orchestra consist of 48 High School musicians. The trip will be by bus to New Orleans with the reminder of the trip by Amtrak Train to New York City. The total cost for the students and their instruments is $60, 600.00.
