This year’s theme is “Demon Heroes – Legends of Northwestern.”
Most events are open to the public. Those planning to attend events are advised to verify the time and location with the sponsoring organization.
An alumni art show will be on display from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25 and 8 a.m.-noon Friday, Oct. 26 in Orville Hanchey Gallery.
Friday’s events will include a golf tournament beginning at noon at the NSU Rec Complex.
The Homecoming parade and pep rally will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will feature the Honor Court and inductees of the Long Purple Line, Northwestern State’s alumni hall of distinction.
A reception for former Demon tennis players will begin at 7 p.m. in the gymnasium of the Health and Human Performance Building.
An alumni social for Pi Kappa Phi alumni will also begin at 7 p.m. at Mariner’s Restaurant.
The Long Purple Line dinner and induction ceremony will take place in the Student Union Ballroom beginning at 7:30 p.m. when the President’s Distinguished Service Award recipient, Graduate N Club Hall of Fame inductees, Hall of Distinguished Educators inductees and School of Business Hall of Distinction inductees will be recognized.
Saturday’s events will begin with the fourth annual Homecoming 5K and 1-mile walk/run at 8 a.m. at Collins Pavilion.
The Alumni Association is partnering with Natchitoches Hope for Paws to present an adoption day in conjunction with the pet-friendly event. Participants are invited to bring their dogs and are encouraged to wear costumes, particularly those that depict superheroes. Registration is available at northwesternalumni.com. Induction ceremonies for the N Club Hall of Fame will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday in Magale Recital Hall.
The closing event for the Cycling for Sharon bike ride and presentation will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Alumni Plaza.
The College of Education and Human Development reunion and induction ceremonies for the Hall of Distinguished Educators will begin at 10 a.m. at the Teacher Education Center.
A brunch and membership drive for the Black Alumni Association will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the President’s Room (214) of the Student Union.
The School of Business will host a reception beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Natchitoches Room of Russell Hall. This event will include induction ceremonies for the School of Business Hall of Distinction.
The Demon Regiment will hold an open house at the James A. Noe military science building beginning at noon. Also beginning at noon will be the University Recruiters’ open house at the Student Services Center.
Tailgating will be in and around Collins Pavilion and the Demon Commons.
The Glen Rainey Band will perform beginning at 1 p.m. Pre-game activities will begin in Turpin Stadium beginning at 5:30 p.m., which will include recognition for honorees.
Kick-off for the game is at 6 p.m. Half-time ceremonies, which will be at about 7:30 p.m., will include recognition of the student Honor Court.
