SAN ANTONIO, Texas –After a thrilling 4-3 win at Texas State on Saturday, the Northwestern State women's tennis team will play its third straight road match against Texas-San Antonio.

The Lady Demons and the Roadrunners each enter the match at 3-2 on the season.

UTSA most recently fell to Texas State 5-2 on Friday.

Despite singles wins by Polina Konop, Natalya Krutova and Andrea Nedorostova the Northwestern State women’s tennis team could not overcome the loss of the doubles point and fell 4-3 to Texas-San Antonio on Sunday afternoon at the UTSA Tennis Center.

The loss moves the Lady Demons to 3-3 while UTSA improves to 4-2.

“This was a very disappointing loss,” said Lady Demon head coach Patric DuBois. “We came out flat in all three doubles matches. I give credit to UTSA for taking charge and moving forward well in all three matches and carrying their momentum into singles.”

Konop defeated Jacobea Junger 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot to raise her singles record to 5-1 this season.

Krutova triumphed at the No. 3 position, taking down Alena Shichkova 6-1, 6-2 and Nedorostova won in the fourth spot, defeating Daniela Garcia Diaz 6-2, 6-2.

Krutova improves to 5-1 and Nedorostova raises her record to 4-2 in singles competition.

“We had very good performances in singles from Polina, Natalya and Andrea, unfortunately that was not enough today.”

Tatiana Larina and Nedorostova teamed up to grab NSU’s only doubles win, taking down Isabelle Jonnson and Shichkova 8-5 at the No. 1 position. The win improves their doubles record to 5-1 this spring.

The Lady Demons return home on Friday to go up against Louisiana-Monroe. The match is slated to begin at 1:30 at the Jack Fisher Tennis Complex.
