We enjoyed a Sunday school lesson “Breaking Bad Habits” by Pastor Taylor. That was also his sermon. Every third Sunday is Christian training. And what better lesson to have than discuss our bad habits. Of course, us Christians, we all are to mortify our members, meaning those parts of our bodies.
Once we submit to Christ, we invite you to come fellowship with us every Wednesday, and Sunday. The youth, prayers and third Wednesday nights beginning at 7 p.m. I fellowship with the St. Mathew Baptist church of Ringgold on Sunday as the celebrate Black History Month. We had a good time in the Lord. Pastor William Clark Jr., of St. Mark Baptist Church of Allen,
There’s more rain in the forecast but that’s OK because spring is on the way. Can you see how the wildflowers are blooming everywhere along with some of the shrubs and trees budding out.
Happy birthday to those celebrating in February.
Services were held for Edward Lee Calhoun Feb. 17 at St. Mark Baptist Church of Allen. Officiating was the Rev. Williams Clark Jr. Mr. Calhoun was a life-long resident of the King Hill and Powhatan areas. He will be sadly missed by many. Our hearts are forever with you all. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, one sister-in-law, Mrs. Classic Calhoun of Natchitoches; three grandsons and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Boy how time flies! I can feel it in the air; Spring is on the way.
I awoke to hear the birds singing their beautiful songs. Flowers of Mother Nature seem to be popping up everywhere.
Friday is the first day of March and of course Daylight Savings Time begins March 10. We will have longer days and shorter nights. There will be plenty of work and fun activities to do outdoors.
Neighbors are breaking ground to begin their Spring gardens of fresh vegetables and such. Hunting season and fishing, baseball, picnics and barbecuing will begin.
I thank God for the springtime when Nature seems to scream for attention.
Sunday we enjoyed a beautiful Sunday School lesson, “Support through Mentoring” from Colossians. Pastor Taylor taught a powerful lesson.
February birthdays will be celebrated Sunday, March 3 at the Good Hope Full Gospel Baptist Church. Cake and punch will be served.
Happy birthday wishes go out to all who celebrate the month of February. I hope you have many more to come.
Our prayers go out to the many sick and shut-ins. A special prayer goes to the Ware and Miller families in their time of sorrow.
St. Mark Baptist Church and the Rev. William Clark Jr. celebrated Black History Month Sunday with speakers and poem readings in honor of black leaders for a job well done. Awards were given out, and of course the meal served afterward was a soul food menu. A special thanks to all who fellowshipped.
Soon, spring-cleaning will begin. I start with the outside first. There’s nothing like cleaning up the yard, getting rid of unwanted junk, getting the mowers ready to cut the lawn, cutting back shrubs and getting flower beds ready. Plus, we’ll have a lot of sunshine.
Kids and parents, don’t forget to visit your library. Reading is fundamental. Stop by and read a book or check one out. You get to travel places without leaving the comfort of your home with a book of romance, action, travel, thriller or suspense. There are even movies to watch.
If you can’t visit, the book van will be in our area March 5 at the corner store from 1:30-1:55 p.m. and at the Willa Point Apartments from 2-3:15 p.m. The ladies are so friendly and helpful. Just tell them I sent you!
