Title: Assistant Director of University Recruiting for Transfer, Graduate & Adult Students
Years at NSU: 10
Job description: I assist new or returning students with the application process regarding admission, financial aid, housing and/or registration. I also help get them acclimated to the university by giving them a campus tour if desired. I am here to help guide them through the process step-by-step to make sure their transaction is a smooth and pleasant one. I also travel in Louisiana and east Texas to recruit at community colleges as well as universities so we can gain more transfer and graduate students. I host an annual Graduate and Transfer Student Open House on campus that is a one-stop shop for admitted students to come and meet with an advisor to register for classes for the summer and fall semesters.
Why I like working at Northwestern State: Northwestern really is a family place, and is home for me. I attended the lab schools on campus and graduated from NSU. Both of my parents are alumni and are recently retired educators, one from Elementary Lab School and one from the College of Education and Human Development. My sister and brother-in-law both currently work on campus, too. I have many other family members that are alumni as well. Besides it being a family place, faculty and staff go above and beyond the call of duty to help students and parents feel welcome and to make sure that they have found a place to call home. Making students happy is our number one goal, and we are always striving for excellence.
