Despite singles wins by Polina Konop, Natalya Krutova and Andrea Nedorostova the Northwestern State women's tennis team could not overcome the loss of the doubles point and fell to Louisiana Tech 4-3 on Thursday at the Jack Fisher Tennis Complex.

The loss brings the Lady Demons to 5-5 on the season while the Lady Techsters improve to 5-3.

“This was a very hard fought match,” said Lady Demon head coach Patric DuBois. “La Tech has a very solid team and unfortunately we came out on the short end of another 4-3 match.”

Tatiana Larina and Nedorostova took NSU's only doubles win of the day, defeating Alexandra Starkova and Joana Nalborska 8-6 at the No. 2 spot.

Konop led NSU once again in singles play, capturing a win at the No. 1 position against LaTech's Vivian ten Dolle 6-1, 6-1.

Krutova also grabbed a win, taking down Nalborska 2-6, 7-5, 6-2 in the third spot and Nedorostova overpowered Melanie Urvoy 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 4 position.

The Lady Demons travel to Conway, Arkansas on Saturday to face Central Arkansas in their second Southland Conference match of the season.
