The Northwestern State cross country teams will host the Demon Invitational on Saturday at the Walter P. Ledet track complex.

Joining the Demons and Lady Demons are Louisiana Tech, Louisiana College, LeTourneau University, LSU-Shreveport, East Texas Baptist, Northwood University and Southeastern Oklahoma State.

The women’s race will begin at 9 a.m. followed by the men at 9:45 a.m., both on the backside of the Lady Demon soccer complex and finish at the Walter P. Ledet Track Complex.

Southland Conference Athlete of the Week Albert Gladney leads the Demons with a season-high fourth place finish at the Centenary Invitational Oct. 5, completing the eight-kilometer course in 28:02.3 just ahead of fellow teammate Mitch Landry with a time of 28:31.7.

The team earned a second place finish behind UT-Tyler, their highest mark of the season.

For the Lady Demons, freshman Annie Fillers shaved almost nine second off her 5K time in less than a week, finishing 31st Sept. 28 at the McNeese Cowboy Stampede in 20:40.72.

Shannon Moore and Asah James follow Fillers with season-bests of 21:13.10 and 22:04.53, both in the 5K at the Louisiana Tech Mook 5 Invitational Sept. 21.

Both teams will head to the Southland Conference Championships Nov. 2 in Lake Charles.
