Ten Northwestern State students are scheduled to compete in the event, which is a preliminary for the Miss Louisiana Pageant. The NSU Student Activities Board sponsors the pageant. The winner will receive more than $8,000 in scholarships and prizes.

This year’s contestants are Kyla Winey and Anna Rees of Lafayette, Haley Brister of Hornbeck, Taylor Walker of Shreveport, Leanny Munoz of Abbeville, Haley Rhodes of Deville, Alaina Davis of Sulphur, Taylor Layman of Saint Gabriel, Leanne Perdue of Bossier City and Marissa McMickens of Pineville.

The mistress of ceremonies will be Miss Louisiana 2013 Jaden Leach. Entertainment will be provided by singer-songwriter Rachel Brown, the NSU Tap Ensemble, Leach, Make Your Own Theatre and the NSU Jazz Orchestra. Gregory Spencer Jr. is the pageant choreographer.
