The Natchitoches Parish School Board held a special called meeting on June 25 to give its nod to various policy updates. Superintendent Grant Eloi noted such action was recommended prior to July 1. He also said the revisions were needed to comply with new education bills singed by the Governor.

The Northwestern State trio of Djimon Gumbs, Diamante Gumbs and Zachaeus Beard took one step toward a trip to Paris on a strong day for all three at their respective meets June 22 Djimon Gumbs took the top spot in the shot put and twin brother Diamante grabbed the victory in the discus on the second day of the British Virgin Islands Championships, while Beard advanced to the semifinals in the U.S. Olympic trials Saturday evening.
