Louisiana Mainstreet is billion dollar success after 39 years

Established in 1984 with four designated Main Street communities, the Louisiana Main Street program is celebrating 40 years of helping to revitalize commercial districts by offering a roadmap for locallyowned and locally-driven prosperity. Today, there are 36 designated Louisiana Main Street communities including the original four – Donaldsonville, Franklin, Hammond, and Houma – as well as four communities accepted into the Lagniappe Community Program, a pathway to becoming a designated Louisiana Main Street community.

Meet Natalie Mangandi

Natalie Mangandi of Shreveport, a senior at Northwestern State University, will graduate in May with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, but through her involvement with many campus organizations, realized that the career path she is most suited for is helping others navigate their academic challenges. After graduation, she plans to pursue a graduate degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education at NSU.

Violinist will perform at CD release concert in Magale Hall

Violinist Andrej Kurti will hold a CD release concert for his new recording of Bach’s “Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin” on Tuesday, April 23, at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. There is no admission charge. A livestream will be available at nsula.edu/capa/capalivestream. Kurti is a professor of violin at Northwestern State University.
